The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον and πόλις (akron and polis)
“Skip-the-line” tickets and mobile audio guide can be purchased in advance, in order to avoid long waits. Acropolis is a wheelchair-friendly attraction, however, certain parts might be uneven and difficult to explore.
Opening time is seasonal and last entry is half an hour before closing time.
Cloakroom is available onsite to leave backpacks however, have with you some water, a hat and sunglasses during periods with high temperatures.
To reach Acropolis, just take the metro Line 2 from Metaxourgio station towards Elliniko - for just 4 stops. Stop in ACROPOLIS metro station and walk for 10’ towards Dionysiou Aeropagitou Street or get a taxi from the hotel for 10-15’.
